FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about health insurance.

1. What is the waiting period for pre-existing diseases?
Most health insurance plans have a waiting period of 2-4 years for pre-existing diseases. However, some plans offer a shorter waiting period of 1-2 years. At Amcofinserve, we help you find a plan that suits your health history. If you have any pre-existing condition, we recommend disclosing it upfront to avoid claim rejection later. We have plans that cover pre-existing diseases after a specific waiting period.
2. What is a cashless hospital network?
A cashless hospital network is a list of hospitals where you can get treatment without paying anything upfront. The insurance company settles the bill directly with the hospital. We have tie-ups with 5000+ network hospitals across India including Apollo, Fortis, Max, Manipal, and many more. Just show your health card at the hospital and get treated without any financial stress.
3. Can I buy health insurance for my parents above 60?
Yes! We offer senior citizen health plans specifically designed for parents and elders above 60 years. These plans cover age-related health issues like diabetes, hypertension, joint problems, and offer higher sum insured options up to ₹25 Lakh. The premiums are affordable and we have plans with no upper age limit for entry. We also offer family floater plans that include senior citizen parents.
4. What is No Claim Bonus (NCB)?
No Claim Bonus is a reward for not making any claim during a policy year. For every claim-free year, your sum assured increases by a certain percentage (usually 5-10%) at no extra cost. For example, if you have a ₹5 Lakh policy and don't claim for 5 years, your sum assured can increase up to ₹7.5 Lakh. This can go up to 50% of the base sum assured. NCB is a great way to get more coverage without paying higher premiums.
5. Is health insurance tax-deductible?
Yes! Under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act, you can claim a deduction of up to ₹25,000 for yourself, spouse, and children. An additional ₹25,000 deduction is available for senior citizen parents (above 60 years). If you and your parents are both senior citizens, you can claim up to ₹50,000. This deduction is available for premiums paid towards health insurance policies. It's a great way to save tax while protecting your family.
6. What is covered under pre and post hospitalization?
Pre-hospitalization covers medical expenses incurred 30-60 days before hospitalization like diagnostic tests, doctor consultations, lab reports, and medicines. Post-hospitalization covers expenses up to 90 days after discharge like follow-up visits, medication, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. Both are covered up to a certain percentage of the sum assured (usually 10-20%). This ensures you get complete coverage from diagnosis to recovery.
7. What are the documents required for health insurance?
To buy a health insurance policy, you need: 1) Age proof (Aadhar, PAN, Voter ID), 2) Address proof, 3) Medical history (if any), 4) Recent medical reports (if required). For senior citizens, additional medical tests may be required. At Amcofinserve, we make the process completely digital — just upload your documents and get your policy issued within 24-48 hours.
8. What happens if I miss a premium payment?
Most health plans offer a grace period of 15-30 days to pay the premium. If you pay within this period, your policy continues without any penalty. If you miss the grace period, your policy may lapse, but you can revive it within 2-3 years by paying the due premiums with a small late fee. To avoid this, we recommend setting up auto-debit or renewal reminders. We also send you SMS and email reminders before your renewal date.
